Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I am a trust-worthy person who is willing to proof-read your stories before you post them. I will not judge you on what pairings you write for, or what category you write for, however, if I am not knowledgeable of the topic, I will not be of much help to you. But I will do what I can to help you with spelling mistakes and what not.
My style is an open-minded one. If you are ambitious and are trying a couple/pairing or category that you haven't written for before, I will keep that in mind as I read your story. Again, I will not judge you on what you write. Everyone on this site is someone who has an ambition (however small it may be) to become a good, if not great writer that inspire others to write as well.
I will not beta-read slash or fem-slash stories. I have nothing against people who are gay, lesbian or bisexual or whatever, I just do not like reading those stories. Also, I won't read most incest stories, unless of course, the only couple that can really come from the show/book/movie or whatever is an incest pairing (like Justin/Alex from Wizards of Waverly Place or Violet/Klaus from Series of Unfortunate Events). |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I don't have many strengths, but I do have an open imagination that likes to wander sometimes. I try to stay as unique as possible in the world of writing. And I'm sure all of you do too. I do, however, try to keep my spelling correct, and if there is more than one spelling of a word, I try to use the correct spelling of it so that it fits with the story. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not going to say that my writing is perfect 100% of the time... because it's not true. No one's perfect and no one's writing can be 100% perfect either. Everyone is bond to make a few mistakes in life, and you have to live with that. What I am going to say is that I, like everyone else, will make a mistake every once in a while. I have typed a story, posted it and then, upon reading it on the site, realize that I made some mistakes with either: spelling, grammar, or even leaving out a word or two that would complete a sentence or thought. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
If you're writing a fanfiction for a book: try and keep the characters as close to how they act or how they talk in the book. If you accidentally have one of the characters break out of character once or twice, then that's fine, but if the characters are completely OOC, I probably won't like the story.
If you're writing a fanfiction for a movie/t.v. show: try and get as many facts (places, people, things) as possible to make your story seem like it might actually happen in the movie/t.v. show; and again, try and keep the characters in character and do what you can to keep them from running OOC. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I WILL NOT READ MOST SLASH/FEM-SLASH STORIES! I have read a few fem-slash stories for High School Musical, but most of the stories in this category (slash/fem-slash) I will not read. If you can write a good (and you have to think it's good) slash/fem-slash (mainly fem-slash) story, I might read it, but I wouldn't bet on it. |
