Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am more than anything a well-rounded individual. I write serious stuff, dark stuff, and funny stuff to boot. My goal as a beta-reader is to scrutinize not only grammar and punctuation, but to help you improve your story and keep it true to your tone. Every writer has a unique style, so I want to help you be the best writer you are able. The only requirement for my services is a desire to write. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am excellent at grammar. On my college prep test I got a perfect score on the grammar portion and a near-perfect score on the reading portion. I also write alot, and that improves your ability to scrutinize other writing. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I guess my weakness is a tendency to overlook the overlookable. While I scrutinize as good as I can, when I am reading a piece of work I do sometimes go into "auto-reading" mode and some minor mistakes slip by me. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Generally if you are writing something serious, I will take the writing more serious and be more critical of the writing style and grammar. Dark stories in particular. Also if you've written something funny that isn't a lemon, I'd love to read it. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
As a general rule, I don't like reading AR (alternate reality) stories, that change major details in the plot (aka, What If Aeris didn't die? What If Irvine killed Edea?, etc.) When I have to think along a new plotline, my brain tends to stick to the original story like a life preserver. Also, I realize that I helped Luna Locket write an AR-type story, so you'll just have to figure that one out on your own. XD |
