Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm a total grammar Nazi; I'm not going to lie. But I'm a nice grammar Nazi, so that's good, right? I enjoy editing other people's works, but I have only a few requests:
1) PLEASE read through your fic first, using a word processor. It makes it a lot easier on me to beta-read, and to be able to catch the small mistakes that a word processor doesn't.
2)I have some other things to do too (such as schoolwork, extracurricular activities, etc), so don't get mad at me if I don't get the fic back to you within a day or so (I'm usually pretty fast, too, so it's normally not an issue).
3) Give me a summary of your fic beforehand, unless it's a oneshot. I typically don't have the time to hunt down a fic and read the first ten chapters or so.
However, I'm usually pretty efficient when I beta, so I'll mainly be focusing on plot, description, characterization, grammar, and spelling. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My main points are spelling and grammar, but I'll be willing to check out the plot and characterization. I really don't have many weaknesses when it comes to writing, since I've been doing it for so long. I'm also VERY good with OCs, so if you need help on making your OC non-Mary-Sue-ish, I don't mind. I actually like OCs a lot. :D |

I'm terrible with romance. I'm not going to lie. I can't do much romance, so if you're looking for someone to help you with the mushy scenes, I'm sorry. D: I'm also not too good on sentence flow. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer stories without too much romance. I'm not a romance person (explaining why I'm not good with writing it), and I would prefer it if you kept your swearing at a minimum (unless it's someone like Edward Elric or something). I do love action, and angst, and pretty much everything else as long as it's not too sappy. I'm very flexible when it comes to genres, so don't be afraid to send your stories to me :D |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't like Mary-Sues at ALL. They're annoying, non-realistic, and if you need help with developing them so that they're NOT Mary-Sues, then I don't mind. However, if you refuse to change your character at all, I'm gone. And with Romance. There's only a certain limit that one can take. And minimal swearing, please. ^-^ |
