Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When I beta read/ edit someone's work, I look at it with a critical eye. I will look at aspects such as general grammar, sentence structure, and the flow of the story (copyediting). I'm also happy to help with overall plot issues.
I also like to check in every so often if I haven't heard from you in awhile. Sometimes, you just can't find the motivation to write. Even having one person bugging (or begging) you for the next chapter may be the push you need. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I edit my school's newspaper, so I'm an automatic copyeditor. I'll address everything from typos to awkward sentence structures. If cannon is important to your fanfiction, I can also check for consistency with the original story. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I get caught up in the little details and lose the overall feel of the chapter as I'm reading. Let me know if there are particular things you want me to pay attention to; otherwise I'll usually give my overall impression of the chapter. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
The topics covered on my Beta Profile are books and anime (as well as some misc.) that I am most familiar with. I have read many of the books several times. That said, I would prefer if the fanfic is in one of those categories, as I will be familiar with the plot and characters. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not be your raw SpellCheck. Please make an honest effort to write coherently.
Severely OOC Characters
Grossly explicit material. A bit is fine, but nothing R rated, please. |
