Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I believe I am an eligible beta-reader because I enjoy reading anyone's work and I read the whole chapter and get a full summary put into my head of the main idea through the chapter. Plus, it's a joy for me to read stories and with that, other people's work and get lost in their sense of imagination. I enjoy it very much and it excites me to be able to read before the thing is finally published online. (I feel like a critic in a review ^^) Whichever type of story I read, I first research the background (for example if it's an anime/manga I haven't heard before I read a few volumes of it to get an overall basis and it gives a better understanding how to edit the story) I haven't many stories written because I try my best to give my other friends on ff.net much advice on their stories and it intrigues me more to read other people's creativity...though I do try to write and update my stories as much as possible. My final reason is that I have edited many of my friends' stories. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strength would probably have to be grammar and spelling because it's simplest for me to catch incorrect words. To me, these problems appear as a sore thumb in writing because when I read a story I can tell just by the sounding or length of words.
I am also the person to help with descriptions. Descriptions are one of my main obsessions when writing (though it doesn't show up much in my stories). I will give you lots of input in adding details and words that will truly make your readers take in the story and "digest" it thoroughly. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weakness as a beta reader/writer is that I sometimes don't have a lot of time on the computer, so I would have to do more beta reading at my house than on the computer..which takes a little longer, plus I'm not very good with Out of Character stories T-T |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
The types of stories I prefer to beta read are "In-progress" stories and mostly anime/manga stories. Most realistic stories do not interest me that much. The animes/mangas I enjoy to beta read the most are InuYasha, Vampire Knight, Saiunkoku Monogatari, Naruto, DN Angel, Absolute Boyfriend, Chobits, Bleach, Shaman King, Fushigi Yugi, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Girl Got Game, Fruits Basket, Rurouni Kenshin and many ranging from those types. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Some stories I prefer not to beta read are any stories that have anything to do with yuri. And nothing really any stories that shows insufficient work where the writer clearly relies on the beta-reader and did merely no editing of their own. I also dislike any non-anime stories because I just don't really seem to have an interest in those things...^^ |
