Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Um, hi! I just want to help out, I'm laid back about pretty much everything under the sun, and I know a thing or two about English grammar. I'm actually rather passionate about language arts as a whole and would enjoy beta-ing as a chance to edit but also just as a chance to read fics because I'm terrible at knowing what to read on this wonderful site! I would love anyone who earnestly wants to perfect their work and who won't be offended at suggestions (please? I don't have enough self-esteem to be berated by beta-ees) to ask me to beta for them. I really would consider it an honor to assist in the production of more wonderful stories! If you want to know about my own writing style or if you question my credibility, please feel free to read or skim some my MOST RECENT (please...don't go to the older ones,,,please) fics to get a snapshot of my abilities! My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Um...I like commas and ensuring all the verb tenses are right...I'm not perfect because I'm..uh, human, but I swear to try my best. I'm a quasi-perfectionist (quasi because I am also lazy) so I can honestly say that I will SCOUR your piece and do all that I can grammar and spelling wise.
As for OOC-ness and stuff like that, I'm pretty open-minded about character interpretations so you can expect your opinion to be respected. (Is that a strength? Oh well...it is now...) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Um, I am not the best speller but I do use and love (and worship) spell check so what I don't catch, it surely will. I also lack self-confidence so I will probably make corrections hesitantly and require lots of feedback from you as an author.
If you want feedback on character, etc. and the story is for something I don't know, I probably won't be of much help in that sense...but your commas will be in the right places! :3 |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'll beta anything! (For now...having never done it, it's hard to say...) I do prefer shorter stories though and if you were to ask me to beta a chapter fic, please do it in chapters and not all at once...I can probably only work on weekends so...yeah...
I also don't want to go through something you, yourself, don't like, I mean, be logical. If you hate it and I can tell it won't be fun for anyone. And please at least TRY to make it coherent to begin with. I don't want to re-write people's stories I just want to brush up a few spots for fellow quasi-perfectionists or real perfectionists or even people who just like being right! |
