Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm very up front with what I think about a story, be it good or bad. Either way, you'll be getting more than a "looks good" or "it stinks" from me. I can beta for grammar, diction, flow, characterisation, and continuity as desired by the writer. If you need me to, I can also act as a springboard for ideas, given I have enough information about what you are writing about. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Catching grammatical errors is my real strength. Beyond that, provided I am familiar with the original content, I can easily spot inconsistencies in character voice and tone. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to be very open with what I think about a piece. I never try to be mean, but I don't butter things up. If you're looking for someone who is just going to praise every word you've written, especially when you do not deserve it, don't ask me to beta your story. Please. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
While I have no preferences for genre, I would prefer to stick with material I'm familiar with. I've seen a large number of television shows in my time, so I'm best with that. That said, being a gamer geek, I'm familiar with a large number of video games, novels, anime, and a motley assortment of other fields likely to generate fan fiction. Let me know what you plan and I'll tell you how much I feel I can help. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Drabbles. Please, no drabbles. Beyond that, I'm game for just about anything. I do not have issues with any particular pairing, be they of the hetero or homo variety. I'll admit, while I'm not very familiar with Yaoi style pairings, it will not be an issue if your story revolves around such an element. |
