Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'll admit that I've only been a beta reader once. However, I do have a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in rhetoric. I absolutely love editing other people's stuff, and I've been the main proofreader for my college newspaper and all of my friends' homework. On top of that, I just love fan fiction. I'm always adding on stuff at the end of movies and shows and thinking about what could have been. This is my outlet. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a sad, pathetic grammar nut. In fact, my roommate never let me read her papers for most of college because she knew I would find all sorts of mistakes. I'm also a bit of a perfectionist. This means that I can pick out things that you have written that don't match canon or even what you've written in previous chapters. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I do work 2 jobs. I have a lot of time to read and write, but unless you just happen to send the chapter to me while I am online, I cannot get it back to you in a couple of hours. Typically, just give me a day, and you'll have it back. I think that is reasonable, but I have had run ins with people who expect returns right away, so if that is you, you might want to find someone else. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love the cheesy and corny. Romance is my specialty. The ships I prefer are:
Harry Potter: Harry/Hermione, Ginny/Draco, James/Lily
Ugly Betty: Daniel/Betty, Gio/Betty
Bones: Booth/Bones
Ironman: Tony/Pepper
Gilmore Girls: Jess/Rory, Logan/Rory, Lorelai/Luke
Hairspray: Link/Tracy
Grey's Anatomy: Meredith/Derek, Izzie/Alex, Izzie/Denny
That doesn't mean I won't beta other stories, but I especially like those.
I also prefer things that aren't too AU. That's not to say I don't like AU stories, but if the characters and the world are so different that the only recognizable thing is the name, change the names and make some money off your original idea (and then ask me to proof it :D). |

I don't do slash. Sorry. I also have a huge pet peeve against stories that are supposedly based off another movie but are actually just that movie word for word with the names changed to fit this fandom. Bugs the crap out of me. Other than that, lay it on me. |
