Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, as I've only really beta'd my sister's stories up to this point, I don't know how I'd describe myself as a beta reader. Dunno what they mean by betareading style. . .
If you wish my services, I merely require that you accept my critque in a civil manner. I know it stings to be told that your masterpiece is less than perfect; I'm a writer, too, remember? |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very skilled at spotting grammatical and spelling errors. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Not so good at pitching suggestions to make a story flow better, but I've improved. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer fics for movies I've seen, TV shows I've seen all the way through or books/series I've read all the way. That way I've a better feel for the world and characters of the fic. I don't care much what genre the story is, with the exception of 'romance'. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I have very little respect for people who cannot find a way to express themselves through any other medium than swearing/cursing. If you really believe your fic would be incomplete without various profanities, kindly find someone else to beta your story. However, I can manage to tolerate 'd**n' and 'h**l', but any use of 'b**h', 'a**', 'p**s', or anything else in that vein will mark the end of my work on your story.
Genres are not a huge problem for me, but I dislike anything 'romance' that involves slash, yaoi, yori, sex scenes or any other sort of smut. I have no problem with fluff, however, though I don't particularly enjoy it. |
