Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm still fairly new to beta reading. However, I do like corrections and grammar, therefore I would like to beta a few stories. I correct grammar mistakes, plot holes and minor story flaws. Generally, I won't actually change anything in the story but basic and comprehensive mistakes. I tend to highlight the mistakes that I want you to look at and correct yourself. I will not directly change plot lines but will tell you if I think there's something wrong with the course your story is taking. Also, I require a small description of the plot and a list of characters. Send me a PM with what kind of story you wish for me to beta, a small description of where it'll be placed and I'll respond as soon as I can. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are probably crossovers, as I like to have multiple characters, I'm writing one myself. I am better with the sentence construction correction, than with grammar. I'm also good with straight (all one category) fics. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not very good at grammar correction, and If I don't know the story/cartoon/show it's based on, I can't beta it. Although if the story is more loosely based on the cannon(?)then I can beta it if I get a description of characters and of the basic plot of whatever your story's based on. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I much prefer to beta stories with at least a little bit of romance in them, although I'm bad at writing very sappy fics, I do like to add at at least a little bit of it(sap). I'd also prefer to beta stories that have shorter chapters, although if you want, I'll accept receiving pieces of chapters. I know some authors prefer to write in big chunks, however I feel overwhelmed if the document I'm betaing is very large. It's also easier to send chapters when they're short. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't particularly like reading, writing, or betaing fics that have severe character bashing or very graphic violence.(i.e. describing the way blood flows out of wounds, or very descriptive battles and stuff) I also can't correct lemons, unless they're very non-descriptive(If you want I can beta everything but the lemon scenes, I don't mind limes). |
