As a beta-reader, I am a very harsh critic. I do not always know the best way to put in comments, but I will try to make it easier for the author by being brief, but honest. I never mean offense by the way I critique, however, as personally I subject myself to my own brand of venom. Writing is a major passion of mine though, and I would be quite happy to help the willing. However, be prepared for the way I critique.

I am a very fluid writer and descriptions and full-body details are probably my strengths. Seeing as my background in writing springs from poetry, I suppose that can only be expected. However, as my sister once said, one should not skimp out on details.

Again, seeing as I am a poet, I do sometimes find that I trip up when I write. I do not know everything and occassionally my grammar is wrong. If you think I have made a mistake, do tell me that and I can self-correct myself. We are all developing writers after all.

I prefer stories that stay in character and are not crack. I like reading the humor occassionally, but I could hardly beta over a story I would fail to take seriously (which I suppose is a crack story's job).

I absolutely, positively (or would negatively work here?) refuse to beta a story containing an OC character. Many OCs are nothing but Mary- or Gary-sues, and I'd prefer to have nothing to do with them. However, if you have an OC that does not fall into those two dreadful categories, then I will be happy to beta it (this means the character has little to no purpose in the main gist of the story. If you want an example, simply message me).
