Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've always been a meticulous person, because it's in my nature. I have this tendency to proofread practically everything, from post-it stamps to the summary section at the back of DVD covers. You get what I mean. So, you can count on me to do my job as a beta-reader :)
Anyway, when it comes to my betareading style, well, it's pretty non-existent. All that you have to do is ask for my free services & I'll gladly oblige. I take this job seriously. Seriously.
Okay, I don't expect much from those who require my services (just give me a sufficient amount of time), in fact, it should be the other way around. You should expect me to deliver my best or at least be a decent beta-reader (why else would I sign up, right?) & 90% of the time, I'll be no where short of satisfactory. Boasting much? Nah, I beg to differ. I'm just confident in what I do.

My strengths, eh?
Grammar, vocabulary, spelling, paragraphing, etc. Pretty much important factors required to make a decent story. Oh, and I have a knack for spotting Mary Sues. They just annoy the heck out of me, & I think it's the duty of every respectable betareader out there to annihilate such vile creations of the human mind. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm blunt, straightforward, honest, brusque, direct, frank & every other possible alternate word that means, "I tell it like it is".
But I'm not saying I'll raze your story to the ground, what I mean is that you've asked me to help improve your storytelling, nothing more, nothing less. So that's what I'm going to do :) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
You can refer to my category preferences. It's mighty specific; but that doesn't mean I won't venture into other stories/genre at all. It just depends on how much potential your story has. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anything that's sexual in content. I'd like to sleep in peace, meaning not having to stare wide-eyed at the ceiling in an attempt to erase what I've read 5 minutes ago.
Oh, I will not consider anything even close to Yaoi, Yuri, Shonen-ai &/or Shoujo-ai. Period. |
