Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I look for grammar mistakes (though I don't always find them the first time through), and overall flow of the story. I'll point out logic errors made in-chapter, and the story as a whole. I have the entire manga collection at my disposal for fact checking. I expect you to be remember that I have a life too, and not expect things back within the hour/day you send them. I will be punctual, and honest with you about your work.

I'm not much one for talking about myself, so expect anything of the 'Profile' Nature to be rather blunt and straightforward. Moving on...
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a psychological writer, and I'm good at thinking through emotional situations and likely responses. I can adjust to suit your characterization. For instance, with Mello...some write him loud, some write him quiet. I get that, and can change my criteria accordingly.

I look for the overall emotional impact of a story as well...While I don't like hollow things as a rule, I understand it when used to further a plot, but...it has to matter. I can't explain it much better. It should matter to you as an author, I want to see that in your work. Furthermore, I want you to make it matter to me. Consider that a challenge.

I'm not one to jump on a plot in terms of spoiling. I'm a reader, just like everyone else, and I'd like a little mystery. I'm not a co-writer, and I'd rather just point at the inconsistencies so that you can fix them...I don't want to help you write the story, I just want to polish it.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm very much a personal type of author...my strengths lie with character interactions, not in-depth plot. I can and have made a twenty chapter story out of a conversation, but I am not a genius. You supply the plot and I'll tell you if it makes sense to me and check it against the manga for Note rules and time frame issues.

When I really get into a chapter, I tend to go blind to typos and the like. However, once I finish reading, I'll realize this and go back through it a few more times to find them, I promise.

I am hard to please. I read at college-graduate level, and so when I find something I like, I am prone to compliment without hesitation. If I don't like something, you can trust me to distinguish between an actual problem and personal preference. I won't bother you with the latter of the two, but if there is a problem, I will explain my reasoning, and I will do it in the most comprehensive manner possible. Take my criticism with a grain of salt, because it's your work...but you did ask me to help, know? I try.
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Intelligent stories. I like humor of course, but crackfics...not so much. No purple geese and stoned detectives for Kani, okay? It has to catch my attention, and be able to hold it.

I love tension in a story. I love mental games, internal conflicts, 'Do or Die, because you're Dead anyway.' situations. I like carefully planned plots, and subtle twists. I like well-thought out problems and exploring the human mind to find where it will break. I don't like dry stories...if someone's world is ending, I bloody well want to hear about it.

Seme/uke in yaoi pairings are a coin toss with me. I will read almost anything you present to me in terms of pairings...almost.

Note: I say that I like mind games, and that is not a joke. I feel I should remind the FF community that while I am chatty and kind, I am not a nice person. There is very little you could do that will startle/scare me, I promise. I write torture scenes simply because I like breaking open the human mind and messing things up. (shrugs) So if your story is a little dark...meh. Bring it.
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will NOT read L/prodigy pairings. My favorite character puts pedophiles in jail, he doesn't seduce his thirteen year old replacements. And it doesn't matter how far back you jump to try and justify it, or whether the children themselves instigate it. Just...no.

I'm not a fan of Genderswitch, or Mpreg stories. I consider OCs to be disrespectful to the original authors...but that's just me. I'm not one to throw around the Mary Sue label, however, because I know what it's like to put time and effort into a character. You're creating a person, and I get that. However, I love DeathNote and its characters, and I'd rather read about them. OCs should only be used to further a plot and sparingly then. In fact, I'd rather you pull an obscure character from the anime and give them the menial task than throw someone random in.

And more importantly... I don't like fluff. I really, really don't. I'm not a nice person, and I'd rather see an all out mental war between two people than a cuddling session.

I don't like immature Lights and Ls. I don't like the scripted First-time Yaoi...I get to a point, and then I know what happens. It's not a scene, it's two people, and when they're going through the motions, it's...completely boring. I'm sorry if that comes across a little harsh, but I'm big on interaction.

Anything else is Fair game.
