Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, for one thing, i want someone who i can work with. Thats probably what you are looking for too. My style is, read now, ask questions later. I may comment about some grammar mistakes (because i am kinda a grammar snob) and/or things about events in the story, such as "did you really want to end it that way..." or, "how about something that is more of a cliff hanger..." stuff like that. You need to have sense of humor and irony, and please don't get your knickers in a twist over something i have said. |

I love putting in adjectives when they are not needed/overlooked. I can elaborate on things when i am not the person writing it, thats why i am a good beta reader. I am great at putting in suspenseful and/or cheerful endings. Awesome at mysterious beginnings/prologues. Love to come up with snappy comebacks |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
If you keep bothering me about getting something done i will virtually strangle you to death. I mean it. If i have too much going on, i will just let your fics sit there, but i will tell you if i have too much stuff going on. I am very impatient, if i like your story a lot, i will keep bothering you to write another chap so i can beta-read for you. I sometimes have mood swings. on my own fic, sometimes i can't come up with entertaining details. I get through work quickly and efficiently, and trust me, that is only a blessing when you are doing Algebra homework. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer funny and humorous fics with some mixed in romance. I especially like ones that are fooling someone but then they fall in love. Sucker for things like John Tucker Must Die. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't like character deaths. Hate it, will never do it, too sad for me. Don't like Westerns unless Western parody. I'm not into all of that religious stuff. Not super religious, (even though i'm Jewish) will crack if anyone is all, "if God wanted me to live, he would let me live" or something like that. Please just don't bother me with things like those unless you have a good reason. |
