Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a writer myself, and as a very picky reviewer (not since I joined the RR but anyway), I'm more in tune with how it's difficult at times to post, to write, or to get over writer blocks. I've had them too.
I don't get fussy about chapters and how fast they come, but I'm very fussy over characters. I hate it when, for the sake of a pairing you want to pursue, you twist the characters till they become OOC. Not so hot, darlings.
And I expect that, when you're writing/planning, you're in it 100%. I'm only going to beta for someone who does so. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I do not think I have a fantastic grip on English. I still slip up with grammar, spelling and all that. I value grammar and spelling very highly. While I make errors myself, I do try to eradicate most of the errors I find.
Don't be offended if I criticise you, since I can be quite touchy about subjects. I'm not one for just compliments. I'll tell you straight what I think. I'll make sure your piece will be critically read through and remarks given accordingly. And if I commend you, I really mean it.
And I'm open to any type of fanfiction. Any type. |

I hate it when it's written for a pairing that you have to twist and twist the characters till they conform to it. If it's not canon, at least, try to say true to the characters.
I'm also especially hot-headed when it comes to things I feel strongly about. I'm also horrendous with deadlines. I'm one lazy idiot for the most part. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love stories that have bits of your life in it. I can feel it if it comes from the bottom of your heart. I can! So, passion and drive and commitment is a must.
I can take any type of story. Any type. And I especially love a good romance/action/comedy. They make for good reading. Though sci-fi is a big weakness of mine. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Everything's fine. But I want to see conviction in your fanfiction. If you're half-hearted, forget it. If you've got 100% in it, I'll see it, and I'm more than happy to beta it! |
