Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm Rhi, i'm new to Beta-Reading, but I thought since I get so much out of this site, I could try to give something back. =] I'm very diligent with things like Spelling and Grammar; I cannot read a fic if there are too many spelling mistakes, which is a shame, because there are some great stories out there. I have two AS Levels in English Language and Literature (among others), in which I achieved two B's, and i'm currently studying for a degree in Multimedia Design, which has absolutely nothing to do with English at all, lol, though it involves a lot of getting codes right. =P
I guess that my expectations from you would be fics that are at least readable! That's all I ask. =] In return, i'll check your spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. to the best of my ability, and if you want, i'll even toss in a few of my own ideas on how to improve. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strength is definitely spelling; all throughout school and college i've been a very confident speller. I also like to think that I can put a sentence together in the right way to make it sound good. There's a word for it, but I can't remember it, lol. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Weaknesses would be Grammar, but only in the sense that sometimes when writing in Microsoft Word that little green zig-zaggy line comes up under one of my sentences. I sometimes ignore it though, because I believe in writing things that sound good, not grammatically correct. Unless, of course, the line makes no sense whatsoever! |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I am a big fan of Final Fantasy, and there are certain ships that I support:
+ Cloud/Tifa
+ Squall/Rinoa
+ Zidane/Dagger
+ Vaan/Penelo
+ Tidus/Yuna
I also like Harry Potter, Tokyo Mew Mew (I prefer Ryou/Ichigo fanfics), Chobits, Pita-ten (Kotarou/Misha), Demon Diary, Cardcaptor Sakura (Sakura/Syaoran), Angel Sanctuary (Setsuna/Sara). |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not a fan of Cloud/Aerith fics. They actually make my blood boil. But i'll read them for your sake. ;]
I also don't really like Ron/Hermione fics, but again, i'll put that aside if you wish. =] I'm not too bothered about Yaoi, Yuri, Incest, those types of things, but I do have some issues with Beastiality. Again, i'll grin and bear it. =P |
