Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I love to write. Sure, I’m not the most popular writer on this website. Sure, I don’t have one hundred reviews per chapter. But that doesn’t mean my skills are ‘the less of these’. I’m not better than most of these guys on here. But I’m not worse than some either. If that makes any sense...I’m merely your average author. I’m in the process of writing my own novel, and am thinking of becoming an author when I graduate college. Anywho, I’m very open-minded, I like making sentences more clear, and I’m a grammar freak. Though you might not tell from my profile, heh. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar. I had the strictest teacher last year and she is the reason I’m more serious in writing. I give her all the credit. If a sentence looks weird, I’ll linger on it and go over it carefully. Also, like I said, I like making sentences more clear. But I may have to ask what the sentence really means because I may look at it differently than you. I also catch typos. I usually edit my older sister’s stories so that I can catch any typos floating around. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling. I live off of Spell Check. But I’m not too bad in spelling...I’m horrible at extreme fluff. If you want something fluffy, I will have to ask my sister to help me. She is the goddess of fluff. Or you can go to another beta reader who’s the queen/king of fluff. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I adore true love stories. You know, the sort where two people meet and they gradually fall in love and get together in the end. I also love depressing stories. Dark, morbid and bloody...Tragic tales are my drug. They are awesome. I’m a very sarcastic person, so if you have/want sarcastic humor in a story you want me to beta read, I’ll try my absolute best. I will do some passionate kissing, but it actually depends on just how extreme it is. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
EXTREME passionate kissing, lemons, idiocy, etc. I will read a story, but if it is a complete waste of time and has no plot, I’ll tell you, but nicely. I hate being mean. But if a story has a random lemon, I won’t do it. Also, if it’s a story where I can’t tell why they love/like/admire/attracted to that other person, I won’t do it. Beastiality, incest, and lemons are the things I won’t do. |
