Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a slightly blunt kind of girl. If I don't like it, I will tell you. Same thing if I do like it. I am very picky about grammar, punctuation, and spelling, because those are my weak points. I prefer to read over it fast, then take it slow and edit. Don't ask me why, 'cause I don't know myself. If you want me to be your beta, you have to acquire- or already have- some sort of patience. I may not be able to get to you ASAP, but I will try my best. Also, you have to juggle four potatoes on a unicycle with your eyes closed. JUST KIDDING! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I believe that I write most fluently in romance and comedy fanfics- it comes easily to me. I think I'll be able to beta the aforementioned genres, and action, because I live for fighting! I also am good with punctuation, and slightly grammar. I can't save a life when it comes to spelling - but Spell Check makes a nice life preserver. Also, I am really great when it comes to ideas: I have fun brainstorming and providing ideas for stories - so if that's what you need, I'm here! |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am really shaky on writing drama and horror, because I'm really not into those things. Same thing goes for betaing those genres. It just isn't me. I am improving my SPaG detection abilities, but I am still shaky in some aspects. Even so, you may send fics my way if that is what you need help with. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta romance - including smut, 'cause I'm a perv like that - and comedy, because I love to read something, then laugh uproariously over it. I'm sure you do, too. I also prefer those of AU (and AH, in Twilight terms), because it's fun to read something different from the actual book - but "regular" fanfics are fine, too! I'd rather beta for SPaG checks, but if you require help with your plot, I'm fine with that, too. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not read the real-life actors!fanfics, nor will I beta for any m-pregs (that is, male pregnancies), graphic rape, or anything sent to me that the author hasn't checked with their own eyes - it doesn't take a long time, and it doesn't require a large amount of effort, so spare me the SPaG mistakes. I also loath any Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus, so please don't send any fics with those characters my way. |
