Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I will edit any fanfictions that have at least some effort put into them, with reasonable grammar and spelling. However, there can be some exceptions if you haven't been speaking English very long; I would be quite willing to help edit your fics and point out mistakes to you, as I would do with anyone else.
I generally go through and just edit a fanfiction, changing a few words or phrases here or there, and pointing them out to the author. Also, if I find that there is some incorrect information, I'll research it and tell you what is correct. Now, I can completely unerstand if you've just modified it for the sake of fiction, so if I don't notice that at first, I apologize for that ^^;
If I do edit you fanfics, I hope you can admit that yes, people do make mistakes, and you must be able to accept criticism. I don't normally criticize harshly, and haven't done so yet (to my knowledge...). If I notice a repetitive mistake, I'll definitely point it out, and I'll keep doing so until you correct it (such as the tenses for different words). I'm not trying to be mean or anything, just helpful. |

-Crossovers of any of the above
I also prefer to beta strange and different stories- I'm not sure what would count as those, but they're the ones which there are few of. New ideas are great to see!
Just because I prefer these types of fanfics (and I have surely missed some) doesn't mean that I won't beta any others. I'm open to all types, and, if I don't know what it is, I will research and view or read some of it.
I will beta almost any genre, even crack and slash (yeah, I'll beta yuri/shojo ai if you really want me to), and rating (K through M) of fanfiction. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will NOT beta-read a fanfic that has a Mary Sue in it (unless she's in there for crack purposes, or that's only her name)or if it's filled with OCs (though a few are okay). Also, there are certain pairings I like to avoid:
-Fullmetal Alchemist: Ed x Winry, Ed x Trisha
-Naruto: Ino x Shikamaru, Chouji x Shikamaru
-The Legend of Drizzt: Drizzt x Artemis
Those are some of the pairings I really dislike, and would avoid beta'ing fics of... but, as some people know I like to say, there are always exceptions ;D |
