Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My betareading style will try to look at your work holistically first before moving down to the gritty details. Depending on whether I know the fandom, I can serve as a canon-checker, but even if I don't I can still read for overall quality, if not accuracy or continuity.
I can be harsh and to the point if that's your preference, or I can hold your hand and help you hone your techniques step by step. It all depends on your needs and what seems to be the best way to fulfill them. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Tone, pacing, and plot are all things I can easily give clear constructive criticism about. I find these to be the crucial elements that a reader won't notice if they're done right, but will stick out like a sore thumb if left even the tiniest bit awry.
Also, I can be sort of a stickler for continuity and accuracy with respect to the original work, so if you need that sort of detail-checking (meaning, you're not writing an AU), then I can do the job. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
While I can definitely comment on dialogue and characterization, I won't be handing you the keys to doing them right; in other words, it's easy for me to tell if they're not working out, but find it hard to give you good examples for replacement (although I can tell you exactly why they're not working, if that's the case). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like a wide variety of fics, so you might as well try me. But I feel most comfortable with more introspective and literary type works - drama and the like. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Hurt/comfort, vore, stories involving main characters' children, most snuff, OC's. |
