Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
What I mostly do as a beta on other websites is have the writer send me emails with any updates or problems such as writers block. The updates will be cleaned up and sent back to the writer corrected along with any suggestions I have for plot line developments. If the author has writers block I would email a correspondence asking for the specific and walk them through possible decisions with the story with an idea list we would develop together through email or separate to help. My only requirement is that they at least think over any advise I offer before dumping or accepting the idea for it is their story. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am good at spotting spelling mistake and improving the flow of a story by changing around the order of the words so they sound right. I am also meticulous about any Japanese(or any other language) terms so they will almost always be correct when I do translations for phrases. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to think some things that are obvious to me in story like under developed plots are obvious to others also and can lose my temper and be very rude in pointing it out. Also, I'm not always available, like when I'm in classes so it can take me a day or two sometimes to reply. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't really prefer story over one another, but I am most interested in being a beta for:
YuYu Hakusho, InuYasha, Blood+, Vampire Knights, Naruto, Harry Potter, Yu-Gi-Oh, Bleach, Fruit Baskets, and X-Men. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I would not like to beta for stories about One Piece and Yu-Gi-Oh GX, or Supernatural. |
