Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi! It's Christina/Chris and I finally freaking turned on my Beta Reader Profile. Yay!
Okay, enought of that, let's get on to the important stuff.
I primarily read MIMATO, but I'm open to Beta'ing: MICHI, TAKARI and TAIORA. Please don't approach me with a Sorato, I won't be able to read one and I apologize. But it's just something I can't do.
Other Categories I would willingly Beta for are: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, The O.C, Pokemon, Harry Potter and Twilight. The specifications for those are:
One Tree Hill: I read and ship BRUCAS. But I am open to Beta'ing: BRATHAN and BRULIAN.
I Say "No" to: LEYTON. It's my pet peeve, the bain of my existance, the cancer of my life. I dislike this couple very STRONGLY. So don't bother asking me to Beta, because I think this pairing is an embarrasment to all that is One Tree Hill. Sorry if I offend, it's nothing personal.
Gossip Girl: I am a Blair fan. I love our "QUEEN B" and I think any one the guys on the show would be lucky to have her because she's so amazing. That said, I am a firm believe in CxB (ChuckxBlair), however I am not opposed to: NxB (NatexBlair), DxS(DanxSerena).
I can't deal with: NatexSerena. I'm not a big fan of S in general, I think she's too much of a drama queen and a bit annoying. So I don't really read anything that's all about her. Sorry.
The O.C: This is a dead show, I don't write for it and I don't think there are many people that still do anyway. But if you should happen upon my profile and decide you would like to me to Beta your story, these are my specifications: I ship, RyanxMarissa and SethxSummer. Anything else is just boring.
Pokemon: I love AAMRN! Ash and Misty are too cute for words, agreed? And I'll read anything that's well written about them. They're timeless and I firmly believe that in the end, Ash WILL end up marrying Misty. It's only natural.
I can't do: AshxMay or Ash with anyone that isn't Misty. Or vice versa.
Harry Potter: HARMONY FOREVER! Harry and Hermione are my niche, I can read HHr fics for hours at a time if they're written well. I usually have something to say whether it's words of encouragement or suggestions. I'm not opposed to: RonxLavender, GinnyxDean.
Note: I love Fred and George Weasley.
I HATE: RonxHermione. How not compatable are they? I mean seriously J.K...you dropped the ball on that one. I also dislike Draco and Ginny fics if only because they're just too unbelievable. I mean, in what realm of the human universe could that happen? It doesn't make sense. The only couple less appealing (after RonxHermione) would have to be HermionexDraco. Gasp! Yes, I know but I just think it would never happen. I mean seriously, Draco was always such a dick to Harry and Hermione HATES him. So...why would she EVER consider being with him. Whatever, man.
Twilight: I don't oppose any couple really, I mean unless it's one of those askewed couples (I.e: BellaxEmmett, BellaxJasper etc...) But I especially like: EMMETTxROSALIE, they're sexy. And I enjoy AlicexJasper. I don't generally read Bella/Edward stories because I think they're boring and generic. Sorry!
Guilty pleasure: RosaliexEdward. Find me one worth reading, I will definitely Beta it.
Okay, all that and more can be found on my actual profile but I just figured if you're looking for a Beta reader, it's easier to have all thier qualifications and preferances in one place. Rather than flipping back and forth or asking me to Beta a couple I just wouldn't be able to. I'd feel horrible saying no to someone. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have original ideas and my plots are almost always based on my imagination. Once in a while, I'll take a scene from a movie or show and adjust it to my liking, but that's seldom. I tend to be very descriptive when I write and I like having three dimensional characters. Giving them thoughts and memories make them real in a sense that they become more personable. Aside from that, a flat main character equals a flat story. That's what I believe anyway.
My dialogue skills. I tend to relate situtaions and characters to people in my life and things that happen in my life. Not that I stray too much from their original personalities, but just enough to make them slightly more original. My dialogue usually tends vary from person to person and situation to situation. My Tai and Matt scenes are usually funny and very guyish. PixieFace Lust appreicates my "guy talk" so thanks Pix! Lol, where as if Tai and Mimi are having a conversation it's always very adoring and protective. Fluffy and frienshippy (I know, not word, bear with me). Sora and Mimi are usually my typical girl best friends and ZoexMimi is usually bitchier and wittier.
When I write, I try not to repeat myself. I like using a lot of verbs and adjectives when I'm describing a scene and I try really hard not rush. I go into what a character is thinking and how they're conflicted when it comes time to make certain decisions.
Usually it's clear what I'm trying to say or the character is trying to say. Their feelings are usually displayed through the coarse of the story. I generally write in the Omniscient P.O.V rather than one set character's. It's harder but it's also a better read. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My grammer and spelling are atrocious at best. I misuse commas and periods like there's no tomorrow and a lot of times even with spell check I spell words wrong or accidentally misuse them. I make a conscious effort to correct anything I see when I re-read my stories. But sometimes, you over look things.
I've got an eye for mistakes though, in other people's stories anyway. I guess I get tired of reading and re-reading my own stories. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't mind lemons or limes (as long as they aren't overly graphic, there are words that are some words that are more vulgar than others and I'd probably point it out to you), they should be tasteful though. I mean there's a difference between mindless, senseless, unreasonable smut and then a built up to a scene that was long coming. It's hard to write a good sex scene, attempt one if you think you can write it with out making any of your readers uncomfortable. |

Couples that I don't like. Sorry to be so blunt but I won't be beta'ing Sorato, Leyton, AshxMay, HrxRon, etc. It's just the way it is. |
