Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm teh-amazing-one. I'm the kind of beta that will be honest with you. If it sucks, I will tell you so. If it's awesome, I'll share that, too.
I am a senior in high school and a sophomore in college. I have been in Honors English since middle school, as well as on my high school newspaper. I have experience writing many different types of genres, and have been in several dramatic productions. You would be surprised how helpful acting is to writing. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am rarely offended. Feel free to ask me anything regarding your work, or whatever.
I am a stickler for plot holes and details.
My mother is a Registered Nurse, and my father is a chemist, so I have a basic grasp of general scientific ideas. I also have the vast Wikipedia at my disposal for that which escapes my knowledge.
I don't abide by petty fighting and typically d not waste my time on it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am far more blunt on the internet than in real life. Mainly because no one is able to punch people through computer monitors. At least, not yet.
Even I, magnificent I, make mistakes. As with any beta, always triple check what you have written. Writing is rewriting.
If you are easily offended, or you have a hard time taking criticism, we might not be the best fit. If I think your entire chapter isn't worth salvaging, and that ou would be better off starting from scratch, I'll tell you. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Despite how I may appear, I am a rather open person.
I do really well with comedy, especially a sarcastic, black comedy. I'm pretty god about writing crack stories that are funny and absurd, not that look like I was using crack while writing. :)

Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
For obvious reasons, I'm not going to beta something that isn't my fandom. I'll give you the basic grammar/spelling/awesome plot test, but that's about it. I will hardly be effectual if I do not understand the character's personalities.
I will not beta incest or rape stories. I don't like stories that feature pregnancy, because I am so sick of that plot line. For the love of God, if you are making a character pregnant, look up something about it! If you are considering about writing any of these, emember that these things happen to real people. The subjects should be treated with respect.
If you hand me something in script format, I will hand it right back to you. Script format is for actors, not readers. |
