Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I will beta read Doctor who stories and can provide a fair amount of background on the Doctor his habits etc. on all except the 7th Dr which I haven't had as much exposure to, I do have a copy of the 8 movie and some of the 7 episodes but have read very few of the books other then the 9 & 10 doctor books which I have most of at this point. I have also seen all of the Doctor video/TV episodes aired in the US with the exception of Doctor 7 episodes.
I am also willing to Beta on X-Men or Wolverine stories as I have been following their activities for close to 2 decades and have probably close to two 4 drawer file cabinets worth of collected comics and that's after I lost about 1/3 of my collection in a move. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I love my doctors passionately as I hope my stories convey and I have found quite a few sites for getting information on special topics of Doctor Who trivia, such as what color the Dr's blood is a bit about his biology and a fair amount of info on TARDIS' and I am constantly looking / collecting additional spots of reliable Doctor history. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I do not do Bit picking for the most part as I'm not British and although I may spot some obvious things I am not necessarily going to get the majority. (though I do have access to a British spell checker). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love love stories, humor and happy endings. Angst and drama are good as long as there is a happy ending. I also when possible like to read at least some of your existing work before agreeing to do beta work for someone. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Slash & extreme or pointless violence I also prefer not to read stories that are written going in knowing you will be fatally/permanently killing off the main characters. Mary sues can be ok but I reserve the right to stop doing beta if the OC takes over the story leaving the primary character(s) in the dust.
Pet peeve 1 - People who perpetually start all their sentence with "And", and is a connector word between two thoughts and really should only be used to start a sentence if it is in relation to a verbal conversation between characters. I think we all should know by now that spoken conversations often don't abide by proper grammar rules.
Pet Peeve 2 - Authors that ignore major life calamities that they write into their stories. In example: A character who has been mugged in chapter 1 then doesn't think twice before walking down a dark alley. OR Rape or other major psychological and / or physical trauma that magically disappears with no consequences the next chapter. |
