Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'll pretty much read anything that comes my way, no matter who it's written by, what genre it is, or what category it's in - as long as it's written in English! I'm very thorough in my reading, and I'll help you with spelling, grammar and punctuation. I'll give advice on anything if you want it - evenhelp you form ideas, if that's what you want!
When Betareading, I'll highlight any areas that I think you could improve on, and make suggestions on how to improve it. I'll also correct any spelling, but also highlight this and note it for you so that you can learn from spelling mistakes! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm particularly strong at picking up any wrong spelling, grammar or punctuation. Though, I'm guilty of getting it wrong sometimes myself. But when reading another's story, I pick anything up easily, and will be able to help you with that. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
As I've mentioned, as a writer I can sometimes spell something wrong or use a word I don't even need. As a Betareader... Well, I think I might hesitate in where you've gone wrong or how you can improve. I'll get to the point in the end, but you'll just have to tell me to stop faffing and tell it to you straight! I'm probably too nice for my own good.
Also, if you send something my way that is for a fandom I'm not familiar with, I might not understand some of the terms or words used in that fandom alone (like in Bleach/Death Note, they have 'Shinigami'). This could be considered a weakness, but I'll counter that by doing some background reading on the fandom so I can Beta your work as best as I can. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'll Beta any genre of story, but I would prefer to Beta something in a category I know, like anime and manga. The categories I'd prefer to Beta for are listed, but please note that I will do my best to Beta any story from any category.
I'd like to point out that I'll Beta stories with any sort of content. This goes from friendship to fluff to limes and lemons. You send it my way, and no matter what's in it, I'll Beta it! |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I WILL give pretty much anything and everything a once-over before Betareading, but if I decide that you haven't spent enough time on it, I will send it back stating that you need to spend more time on it, and give a little advice on what you could do. Then, if you want to send it back to me so I can have another look, I'll be perfectly happy with that. |
