Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm healthily judgmental when it comes to stories. I do hetero pairings, slash pairings or femmeslash. I've read it all. I'm very much a grammar and punctuation Nazi so watch out. I go through a process of my beta reading. First, I'll read it nonchalantly, as if I were just an average reader, then I'll go through it again with a more critical eye, jotting down anything that the story might need to become better. THEN I go through and thoroughly inspect it for any grammar or punctuation problems. Then I send it all to you and say, in a polite manner, that you need to change this. I'm not mean about my criticisms, as I can always find SOMETHING good about a fic, but I am critical so... beware. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm better at character/plot nitpicking, grammar, punctuation and formating. I can recognise an error in the character's way or how the plot it set up and any plot holes it might have, and I am WONDERFUL at noticing grammatical errors right off the bat. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I have a habit of never really thinking something is over unless it's to my liking. Also, I have specific tastes in stories such as deep, psychological fics. Not angsty or anything, just deep. I also am a bit biased towards male slash fiction so if it's femmeslash it'd better be a DAMN good pairing and if it's hetero... just PRAY that it isn't contradicting one of my own pairings, or else I might turn it down... probably not, though. Just, I'll be a bit more critical than usual. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I am in LOVE with fandoms. I'm COMPLETELY biased towards yaoi. Any shape or form of yaoi is just... love to me. Yuri, I'm warming up to. It can be EXTRAORDINARILY cute if you have the right pairing... and hetero... *sighs* it's... fine, if you have the right pairing. Unfortunately, I will NOT beta ANY stories that aren't romance. Sorry. I'm still in that stage... and really, I don't think I'll (or want to) grow out of it. So... yeah. (Twincest, general incest, shota, loli and so on are PERFECTLY fine by me. In fact, I love it all) |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
NO crack fictions. I mean, crack PAIRINGS are great, but when you have the entire cast of one show/book/movie/video game/etc. in one room playing Scene It or Spin the Bottle or something... ew. No. It's IMPOSSIBLE to critique that. I'd RATHER not betaread any hetero, though I will if you convince me, and... yeah. That's really it. |
