Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I just wanted to give beta-reading a go since my some of my friends kept on asking me to help them write with their stories. Haha!
I'm not a great author myself which is why I can also get mistakes every now and then. But if you let me beta-read your story, I promise to do my best to help you out. I prefer writing with a base, which is why I enjoy beta-reading my friends' works, even when I'm at the brink of getting into trouble because I'll get caught by a teacher because I'm reading something else that's not related with the class. So you can say that I'd risk a lot for me to help others, even if that means postponing my updates. But do not think that I'm doing too much for someone who writes "lousily". Psh! You're my friend now, I'll make sure to help you out.
My expectations? I don't really have any. Whether your fic is badly written or written beyond my comprehension, I don't really care. I'm open minded so I'll help you no matter what. Although, I prefer writing something that's within my set genres. I also prefer writing something that's not against the site's set guidelines. If you haven't bothered to read the "entries not allowed" part properly, here it is-
Entries not allowed:
1. Non-stories: lists, bloopers, polls, previews, challenges, author notes, and etc.
2. One or two liners.
3. MST: comments inserted in between the flow of a copied story.
4. Stories with non-historical and non-fictional characters: actors, musicians, and etc.
5. Any form of interactive entry: choose your adventure, second person/you based, Q&As, and etc.
6. Chat/script format and keyboard dialogue based entries.
So, I'd want to be a loyal member of Fanfiction. And I hope that whatever you give me, it's not against any of those.
Aside from that, I'm a really friendly and approachable person, so don't be scared if you think I bite. ^-^ |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My grammar is fair- not bad, but not too great. I can help you spot some grammatical errors, even the ones that aren't really obvious. I can also help with your sentence composition and stuff, seeing that some words maybe redundant and unnecessary. Also seeing that some words are used in a wrong manner and such. I can also help you spell words out if you don't how to spell some. And also if you're unsure what word to use because of the homographs, homonyms, homophones, capitonyms, and the like. I'm also good at punctuations, so if it's that you're worrying about, I can help you.
What can I say? Our English teacher was a good one. I'm also using Grammar and Composition 3 as my basis for grammar and punctuation. So if you say that something is wrong, I will automatically point to either my brain or that book.
I can also help you come up with ideas for dialogues and future chapters, if you'd like that.
When it comes to the genre of writing, I prefer writing Romance, Humor, Parody, Tragedy, Drama, Hurt/Comfort, and Friendship. The rest, I am nowhere near interested in whatever else genre there is. But if you want to use something else (other than those above) as a sub-genre, I'd still be glad to help you out. :D |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My kryptonite is definitely with narration bits. Which is why I prefer beta-reading over writing, actually. All I can do is help expand your narration because it's too short, or in some cases, help lessen it because it's too lengthy.
Also, if it's not in my genres (Look for it at the 'My Stengths' section), I don't think I'd be of much help. =3 |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I think I've gone through this already. So to summarize my preferred list, I'd rather beta-read something that isn't against the guidelines, something that is in my set genres, and something that I actually can write about.
I'm only beta-reading for a few archives since I get easily confused with the others. XD |
