First off, I'm a serious writer. That doesn't mean I don't read or approve of humour; I mean that I will only beta-read fics that can actually be distinguished as fics that the author has put time and effort into. A lot of 'writers' out there write without running a simple spellcheck or even thinking about what they are going to write about. I want to have my eyesight in tact after I've beta read. Don't blind me with chatspeak, hideous grammar or gigantic paragraphs of doom.br /

I wouldn't say I'm a harsh beta-reader, but I will quite openly say what I don't like about your fic. However, I will always suggest ways for you to improve on those parts; I also make it part of my routine to tell you what I do like of your fic. I think a fair balance of praise and criticism is what makes a good beta reader. I can be nice, I swear.br /

If you want me to beta read for you, please send me a PM and I'll let you know my email address so that you can send your document to me. This is so that I can avoid using docX because it hates me.

Grammar. I've got plenty of understanding of grammar. Working in a law firm, catching mistakes and using the English language has to be second nature. I will quite happily point out grammatical errors and correct them for you. I totally love grammar. br /

General feel for a fic. Description and good dialogue is a must for multichapter fics, and I look out for these when I write my own works. I'm very thorough when it comes to analysing the general feel of a fic. Again, I will suggest alternative ways for you to go if there is something glaring about the fic that isn't particularly good. For example, if I think parts are too choppy or rushed, then I will point this out for you and give suggestions.br /

I'm very good with angst. I write depressing/angsty fics myself (what? I'm a Mewtwo writer, what do you expect? :P) so if your fic is a serious one with dark undertones, chances are I will work better with it.

Heh heh, weaknesses. br /

I cannot come up with amazing plotlines for your fic. I struggle with that myself, so if you want me to beta-read, make sure you have your own plot ready, or at least a general direction you want your fic to go in.br /

Also, erm...I'm not a very funny person. I can't come up with funny jokes or LOL situations if my life depended on it. I suggest looking for another beta if your fic is centrally humour.

Romance and drama. I can beta multichapter or one shots (just let me do the former in short bursts, ne?) for you.

Yaoi and yuri. I won't beta read fics that have those pairings. And again, I don't do well with humour, so skip that too. I also don't do poetry (because I fail at it), and I pretty much abhor songfics, so don't send one along my way.
