Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'll always look for grammatical errors as well as spelling errors, and depending on how well I know the series, I may or may not notice some out of character behavior or perhaps I can mention different plot events, etc. I'll check for good things and bad things, but I'm just a beginner. Nonetheless, I'll do my best, and depending on how well the story draws me in, it might take a while to correct. At the max, however, I'll try to get the information back within a ten days. Usually, I'd go for two or three. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling, plot kinks, Character inconsistencies, character weakness, and word choice. If there's a grammar problem, I'll probably run into it. Same with spelling and word choice. If there's something that I don't understand or whatnot, you'll be made aware of that, too. I can usually spot out of character behavior in the series I'm familiar with, but after so long in reading fanfiction, some of the stereotypes will probably pass me by. Feel free to ask me about Plot ideas and such, I can usually weave a fairly strong web plot-wise. Character building is one of my other strengths as well, so if I notice a somewhat weak or inconsistent character (OC and otherwise) I'll let you know and throw in a suggestion about how to fix it. I have really strong abilities in descriptive words and poetry type things. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I haven't read every manga in the world. Nor watched every anime or movie, nor have I played every game. So I've tried to only list those subjects I feel confident enough to be wise about plot/character wise. But there will come a time where I'm stumped. I will try to do research, but it'll take time. I also occasionally go through a phase where I can't stick to one thing for too long. In these times, it will take longer to get your chapters back to you. I'm also not very good at writing epic battle scenes, I can get by with my descriptiveness, but I know I'm not the best at fight scenes. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
General, Romance, Humor, Drama, Poetry, Adventure, Mystery, Parody, Supernatural, Suspense, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Spiritual, Family, Hurt/comfort, and friendship. I don't really mind pairings and things, nor do I mind Hentai. I'm someone who has looked over some SCARY pairings. It'd be nice if I knew a bit about the original work. I've read more than I've listed, but I'd rather not sit through the entire listings. If you'd like me to beta your work, request it, and depending on the length and availability of the series, I may or may not read/watch the original and add it to my list. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Horror, angst, tragedy, western, crime. No particular pairings here. I'll take goriness and the like, but please don't try to make your readers hurl. Particularly not me. Also, I don't particularly enjoy the majorly out of character stories, though I'll happily take AU's. By this, I mean the Mary Sue's and the Gary Stu's, for lack of better word choice, I prefer not to read those, and if you have them but don't know it, I''ll let you know. I'm not really very picky, but I will not be vas lenient or nice with a work I'd rather not beta. And please, don't try to make me cry. |
