Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm picky. The problem with beta-reading is that I'm human, so I can only offer my own opinion. It's like peanut butter. Not everybody wants it extra-chunky. BUT I DO
So I'll tell you how such-and-such thing works and such-and-such thing doesn't, but if you're just writing to get reviews I will internet-shank you. Because if you're doing it for attention, you are doing it WRONG. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm not going to do that 'you know, this part is REALLY GOOD, but uh these seventeen other things need work' thing. That's annoying. But provided you respect my opinion, I will tell you helpful things. Oh, and grammar. I will hunt down bad grammar and stab it in the thigh. I know more than my then/than, there/their/they're, its/it's. I know my conditional tenses, I know my present versus past, I know my dangling participles. I will catch that. All of it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can be, at least, kind of unhelpfully sarcastic. I'll be sitting there like "HAHA I'M SO FUNNY AND SUPERIOR" and you'll be like "...haha, I guess" and you won't know how to fix the problem. I'm doing that less, and trying to give more advice, but it'll take me some time. Sometimes I also tend to just take random liberties, like rewriting a sentences more to my liking instead of saying 'rewrite this so it's less awkward'. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I definitely have my fandoms, but I read outside of them all the time, so not really. I read some light BL, but I'm not so good with the smut, straight or otherwise. |

Nope! Unless it's one of the, you know, usual nasty things. Racist, hateful, thoughtless. But other than that. |
