Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Umm...let's see, I make mistakes all the time, but I've always found that getting my papers edited by someone who isn't completely involved in your work can actually be pretty helpful. Since then you're getting suggestions from someone who could as well be a potentional reader, reviewer, critic, etc. Also, 'two eyes are better than one,' which is so damn true.
My betareading style is like that of one that simply edits mistakes and gives advice. The mistakes part is pretty much vocab accuracy and correctness and the grammar. The advice part is plot line, suggestions, character strength...and so on. It's advice, suggestions, and they definitely don't need to be taken. I'm not the writer, and technically what happenes to a piece of work is the writers decisions.
My services are open to anyone...pretty much. I like all sorts of genres and when it comes to pairings, I don't mind yaoi/yuri...and I don't care if pairings are straight either... |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strength comes in assessing plots and vocab. I'm fluent in French and also English. Character analysis as well can come in handy and I find that I can do that pretty well usually. I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to plucking ideas from thin air. So any help in that department I'm totally the dude for it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Grammar is a major weakness. I'm also extremely open minded, and I know for some that can be a major let down since my ideas aren't orthodox either. Ummm...when it comes to my favorite stories, I may get critical but then again, I may not. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Hellsing, Labyrinth, Harry Potter (just maybe), Lord of the Rings, House M.D. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I refuse to betaread stories that are to wound up in religion. It doesn't matter what text of religion it is....none, absolutely no. No Thank You. Honestly I get enough batterings on my door concerning my soul in a year than the stars in the sky. It's absolutely disgusting.
I'm aware that it's not always the case, but please no religion. No sirie.
However, if you have a good argument concerning this, I'm prone to listening or reading it (here's the openmindness syndrom again)...so yep, give me a buzz on the messanger thingy.
Jeez I wrote loads. he |
