Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello!
I have not betaread for anyone yet, so I'm not sure I have a particular "style." I feel confident, though, that I would be a good beta person. : )
I have been in honors English since forever, and I was in English AP. So, I'm pretty decent with all that jazz.
As far as expectations: if you want my help, then please accept it. I will not be mean or condescending in any corrections. I will, however, be thorough. I will check for correct grammar and spelling. They are, to me, the basic foundations on which all good writing is built. I believe I can help with story content (plot ideas, dialogue, description). You can be assured that I will be honest. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am great at grammar, spelling, and whatnot. I know how to weild the power of punctuation and am not afraid to do so. I like to think that I'm fairly imaginative. So I should be able to help someone with their plot if they're having trouble with working out holes, wrinkles, etc. I know what good writing is. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
A weakness would definitely be time. Although I procrastinate an inordinate amount of it away, I have to put my school work first. If I were beta'ing a story, however, I would most certainly try to get it back in a decent time frame. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Well, the only anime I know about is Dragonball Z. So as for anything else, I wouldn't have the slightest clue what I was talking about!
Within DBZ, then, I would read romances (B/V especially), adventure, humour, etc. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Umm...I guess anything that's just like waa-ay out there in the land of Elmer's Granola Universe: Wholesale Mattress and Flea Market, you know: where the moon is an unholy shade of cerise, and purple penguins fly high into the violet sky whilst the fiery golden stars twinkle mischievously, and giant squid bedecked in frou-frouesque blue tutus Nutcracker their way closer and closer to the swirling Black Vortex of Doom and Despondency and into the Promised Land of Blissful Ignorance and Schizophrenia.
Nope, nothing of that ilk. : ) |
