Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I promise not to try and interfere with your story too much, unless something looks very much out of place. I will pick up on grammar and punctuation errors and any "mini-Balrogs" (repeatedly misspelt character names eg. "Gandolf" instead of Gandalf, "Hermoine" instead of Hermione and so on.) I'll also get back to you as quickly as possible and try to be tactful and polite. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Spelling, grammar, punctuation, word substitution, sentence structure, technical points. Harry Potter is by far the fandom about which I have the most knowledge. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My eyes might glaze over a bit at long paragraphs or big blocks of text, though I will do my best to read through them carefully and not skip over. Romance is a weak spot both in my fiction and my personal life, so you can ask me to beta the technical points of your lovey-dovey-slushy fic but I can't help you improve the feel of the story. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm a lot better with gen or action fics than romance; see above. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No SERIOUS mpreg, please (ie. a spoof/parody is OK.) I would also prefer not to beta anything that is too "squicky"; if you are familiar with the Dark Lord Potter forums, this is exactly the kind of fanfic I refuse to work with. |
