Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I absolutely love critiquing stories. Often when I read a fic, I'm constantly thinking of how to make it better. I focus mainly on flow and imagery, as well as characterization. I'm good with grammar, though spelling is one of my weaker points. I am willing to work as a team with any author who needs my help. But I must warn you, I'm known for brutal honesty. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My most comfortable genre is darkfic or action/adventure type stories. Slice of life is also really fun and enjoyable, along with any stories that delve deep into character study. Battle/ action scenes ignite my inner fire, and darker fics inspire my inner poet. I love complex stories where one or more characters goes through some kind of inner transformation. I'm also willing to share my ideas if a fic reaches a dead end, or if the writer is suffering from a block. Plotting is definitely an upside to my overactive imagination. If you have a general idea and need someone to flesh it out, I'm your gal. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I often tend to focus far too much on imagery, and sometimes my fics can become a little too poetic for people's taste. I absolutely love humor, but my own sense of humor is so dryly sarcastic, I'm usually the only one who finds it funny. Also, I'm brutally honest. Some see that as a helpful quality, others find it offensive. You will not receive a constant and mindless bombardment of "That was great!" or "Wow that sucks!". I'll tell you exactly why an aspect of the story is great, and will give out advice when it's necessary. I will always have a logical explanation to back my points and arguments, whether it's from canon examples or real life fact. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Angst, action/adventure, sci-fi, horror, mystery, crime, character study pieces, "slice of life" pieces, poetry, drabbles, "epic" plot type fics. I'm pretty flexible. |
