Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have my Perfect Imagination accreditation: PI:5604525821
I'm sometimes blunt, though not cruel, when it comes to doing a beta-read of a story. I like to help form the overall picture and assist in making the finite details fit perfectly into the mold. As a writer myself, I understand the importance of having a prompt and reliable person to look over your work. I enjoy working with an author to perfect and hone a story and I prefer to be more helpful than just the spellchecker. I like to have a back and forth dialogue whenever the author is stuck or just looking for a bit of feedback. I work strictly in Word, and I ask anyone who wishes to have me look at their work upload it to my yahoo group so that I can access it from whatever computer I'm working on when the mood to beta strikes me. I will never make a change without noting it because it's not my work and I'll be as involved as little or as much as you'd like. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm strongest in plot/character development -keeping things consistent, brainstorming on ideas if the author is stuck, giving alternate structure for dialogue and story development. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm good with both spelling and grammar, but I'm not a Nazi about it, so it's possible I won't pick up every little thing. I'm strong in Cannon, for the most part, though minor details might elude me. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
At the moment I only beta Harry Potter fandom and the the Drarry ship. I'm open though, so if I'm familiar with the fandom and it's well written and holds my attention then I might try it on for size. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't beta anything anime because I'm not familiar enough with it to be accurate. I prefer Slash over Het any day. I won't ever beta rape scenes no matter what fandom or pairing. |
