Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've never actually been a beta-reader before, but I have reviewed other people's work. I usually look for mistakes in spelling and grammar, and usually am not very concerned about writing style at all, as long as it's not in some wonky format that I can't make head or tail of.
Actually, scratch that, if there are any obvious errors in writing style, I'll probably catch them. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I guess you could say my detection of grammar is okay. I can identify where most sentences have gone astray, and I'm a hound for spelling errors, only making a few of them in my own works. When I do, it's a pretty big deal for me, and I correct them as soon as possible. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My really big weakness is impatience. If a chapter is too long, I'm prone to stop halfway. I also get kinda sick when a chapter is too emo-ish/angsty/whatever it is.
Also, I sometimes find too many mistakes, making a few in my editing myself. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
...adventure stories. Those are great. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Um, I hate gory scenes? Blood and lemon is fine, but please, nothing disgusting or obscene. (But then again, that's all blood and lemon is in the first place, so...?) |
