Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Beta-ing is something I do in my spare time between writing or reading fanfiction. I'm relatively easy going when it comes to editing a story, and I love helping people out with things like that. I would expect that anyone who comes to me would have at least a basic understand of grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. It would make it easier on me, as well as other readers, to comprehend the story if I weren't trying to sort through a mess of chat speak or an entire plot of monologue, like Romeo and Juliet.
When it comes to plot, I try to spot loopholes or comment about adjustments to be made; but most of the time, I'd rather steer clear of that. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I adore long-term stories that are seen through to the end, as well as poems and one-shots. Song fics are relatively okay, but I'd sort of have to agree with the song choice in order to beta it thoroughly. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Descriptions. Although I'm generally a person that goes into a lot of detail with my own writing, I'm very impatient when it comes to reading it. I'll usually want to skip to the interesting part of the chapter/story, which isn't really ideal for a beta-reader. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Twilight, Cirque Du Freak, All American Girl, Sara Dessen, Miscellaneous Books...
Anything within that range. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anything with the subject matter of rape, abuse, etc. |
