Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a currently a beta-reader for Pokemon, although I can also do Sonic the Hedgehog if I'm familiar with the characters.
When I betaread a story, I look at grammar, spelling, sentence structure and overall enjoyment of the story. This, from my point of view, provides a very good idea of how good the story is. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar and spelling are my best areas, and also sentence structure. I'm very spelling and grammar minded, so I guess that's where I excel in beta-reading. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I suppose that I sometimes let my prejudice over the type of story get in the way, but usually it's not that bad. I also might get so involved in the story that I lose track of the task, but again, that's quite rare. I'm young. My vocabulary and grammar points aren't fully developed yet, though I am aiming to learn as much as possible about it in order to become better! |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
My favourite type of stories to beta are where either the characters are in character, or crack!fics. I love humour and romance, especially mixed together, and especially pokeshipping or gymshipping. I prefer to beta stories with the canon characters, not OCs.
Ratings K to T suit me just fine. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't want to beta any M rated fics. Violence and lemons really aren't my thing.
I don't want to beta AdvanceShipping or PearlShipping fics. I just can't stand them.
I would also prefer not to beta the kind of fics where the canon characters are in school and such, and I also don't like fics where the characters are older etc.
Mary-Sues bug me. A lot. |
