Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Okay! I write the way I beta. It all depends on the tone of the story; passive voice CAN BE OKAY in certain circumstances, for instance. I read quickly, I edit for content and grammar. I can also help toss around ideas, or smooth over plotholes. I can be very supportive, too, or a kick in the butt. I have sitting next to my computer a dictionary and a thesaurus, I make frequent use of both. I don't expect that all my suggestions will be accepted immediately, I won't get offended if you disagree with my opinion. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammatical and spelling errors. Misuse of words like your and you're, or their and there. Vocabulary and finding new ways to phrase a certain idea. Overall cohesiveness of a chapter, as well. Keeping characters in character the way they are defined in a story. Getting rid of extraneous information :) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Pacing. I tend to be on the extreme ends when I write, I'll admit, either too quick or too slowly. I have some grasp of what is stretching on for too long, but it is not my strongest point. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Stories with very intelligent, complex characters. Action/adventure stories. But send me whatever you have, there are gems in every category. |
