Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I consider myself a good spellcheck/grammar type of person -I have gotten better since my year or three absence from this website, most stories I wrote on here are all old now, so I do have better grammar/spelling-, and I can be a little critical when it comes to giving advice on characters, but I do try and think of what other people reading a story would like, and if I think something is a thing that most people wouldn't like, I will point it out. I'm better at reading and being a critic than writing stories, so please, don't even bother with judging me by my stories, haha. I usually only read manga nowdays, so I am more interested in being a betareader for manga/anime stories, though I don't mind other types. I find drama stories to be the most boring things you can ever read, so it's a strange day when I do betaread those, Humor/Parody are the ones I'm most interested in betareading, along with horror and anything dark or sadistic. I can only speak english, by the way, I was never good learning other languages. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling and Spellchecking. If I'm not sure if a word is spelt wrong or not, there is always the dictionary, haha. Any differences in spelling may also be because there are some words that have different ways of being spelt, depending on where you come from, just thought I might mention that. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Drama is a weakness of mine, I can't stand the genre! It bores me to no end, and makes me lose interest, which also makes me lose my ability to betaread. Anything badly written -or "fangirlish/fanboyish" as I call it when I read a manga/anime based story that the word would apply to- can and will cause me to flame a little on the story, characters, and lack of originality/over-originality. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Humor, Parody, Horror, Sci Fi and stories based on anime/manga books are preferred, though I can betaread anything if I'm in the mood. It's nice to be under 10000 characters, but there are times, even if they are rare, that I will read something over that amount. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anything that portrays racism, sexism, homophobia, or overall bigotry as a good thing is something I will never read. I don't mind if the story is based on it, as long as the point of the story is not to degrade or spread rumors about a race, gender, gender orientation, or any sort of group, fandom or minority - that includes furries, I will not tolerate any demeaning of furries, they've had enough rumors spread about them. I also do not appreciate stereotypes unless it is being used in a humorous way, or a way that isn't entirely serious. |
