Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I love to read new ideas from people. I understand how hard it is to write something and then hope it isn't a complete failure. I love to help people bounce ideas and line them up so that they can get a cohesive story together that captures and keeps attention. I think there should be a good balance of description as well as conversation between characters, as too much description can lose readers and too much conversation leaves you wondering what is happening outside of talking. I'm also a big fan of using other words besides 'said' and 'asked' when people are conversing because I think other words can really express their emotion and inflection. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm big on correct spelling. I will be a spelling Nazi for you. I'm pretty good at grammar as well as punctuation. I'm also pretty decent at keeping things consistent with a story and will question authors about things to make sure it's going where they're trying to take it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not as good at recognizing every situation where commas are/aren't needed. I'm pretty good at it, but I also don't always know the rules for them. I know there are other weaknesses of mine, but I can't recall at this exact moment. We can discover them together, if you'd like me to be your beta. :) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would definitely prefer 'Twilight' fanfics over anything else. I'd also prefer beta-ing fanfics from books more than any other media. I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to controversial topics (within reason) if it is to make a point, not just to torture characters for no other reason than misery. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I would prefer not to read anything coming from tv or movies. Nothing involving harming children or anything of that sort. Be reasonable. |
