Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am an English/History major, so I focus very much on continuity and grammar. I pride myself in being more retentive about reading other people's fics then my own, so I'll read it several times to make sure the character's are straight, the story fits what's been taking from the universe, and the grammar is readable. I can sympathize with difficulty in spelling and grammar, since the English language is difficult to master, even for one studying on it in the college level. However, I do expect that simple spelling and grammar will be found in the fic. Things such as puncuation at the end of a sentence and a capital at the beginning of the next should be present in your fic. That doesn't mean I won't read and beta it, but if you want someone else to put an effort in for you, you should put an effort in for yourself first.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Character building narratives and dialogue are my forte. I can get into a character's head (or they get into mine) very easily and I enjoy writing out their thoughts and words. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Fighting scenes, unfortunately, at the part I have most difficulty with. I have been pushing myself to get better, and I have in some cases. It is certainly what I would define as my weakness though. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I enjoy one-shots generally more then chapter-fics, because it is my pet peeve when I get drawn into a fanfiction that never gets finished. However, I understand this as I myself have such a fic, so I will still be happy to beta read. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I am a very open minded and easy-going person. I can handle cute, fluffy fics as well as intensely sexual and violent fics. Only things such as incest really get to me. Yaoi/Yuri does not bother me. I may not agree with a certain pairing for my own writing, but I can still enjoy and read such fics. |
