Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a college senior who loves to read and write, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education-English. Anime, manga, video games, comics, and cartoons are the sections on this website that I browse most often, but as of late, I've been lurking in various DC comics categories-Nightwing, Young Justice, and various Batman categories, in particular. Let it be known that I am a stickler for proper grammar and correct spelling and that I will find discrepancies in both areas even if I am not specifically looking for them. I am attending college so that I may eventually teach middle or high school English courses. It's what I do. I also love details. While they are not absolutely necessary in some cases, details often make or break a story for me, so it is likely safe to assume that if I am your beta-reader, I will nag you about your story's attention to detail. I apologize in advance about that. Vocabulary is another issue that grabs my attention. In order to grasp the reader and pull them into whatever you are writing, vocabulary often plays a leading role in a tale. Using the same adjective repetitively is a great way to induce yawns. Grammar, spelling, detail, and vocabulary-those four elements of writing are what I will focus on whilst beta-reading for anyone. I hope to serve you well, if I should be your editor. :D |

As a writer I am often repetitive when it comes to word usage, but as a reader I try not to make the same careless mistakes I do while writing my own fiction, specifically by being attentive to an author's word usage and whatnot. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I am completely open to beta-ing any genre of fiction, serious or lighthearted, particularly if said story involves the character Dick Grayson in any way, shape, or form (Robin, Nightwing, Batman, or just as his civilian self). I admittedly tend to lean toward the darker spectrum of the stories posted here when I decide to read for leisure. While I prefer to beta one-shot stories, I will gladly proofread multi-chaptered fiction if the premise is promising. |

Every story deserves its chance in the spotlight (or on the laptop monitor, as the case may be). Who am I to deny that? |
