Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a junior-level college student who loves to read and write and currently majors in English Education. Anime, manga, and video games are the sections on this website that I browse most often, but as of late I've been dwelling in the D.Gray-man category since there are some fabulous authors posting their works there!
However, let it be known that I am a stickler for proper grammar and correct spelling and that I will find discrepancies in both areas even if I am not specifically looking for them. I also love detail; while it's not necessary in some cases, detail often makes or breaks a story for me, so it is likely safe to assume that if I am your beta-reader, I will nag you about detail. Sorry about that. Vocabulary is another issue for me. In order to grasp the reader and pull them into whatever you are writing, vocabulary plays a large part (at least in the case of myself).
So, to sum up this entire bio in a few words: grammar, spelling, detail, and vocabulary! Those four elements of writing are what I will focus on whilst beta-reading for anyone. I hope to serve you well, if I should be your editor. :D |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar and spelling are the main areas of writing in which I excel. To a lesser extent, I am also quite competent when it comes to vocabulary. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
As a writer I am often repetitive when it comes to word usage, but as a reader I try not to make the same careless mistakes I do whilst writing my own fiction. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I am completely open to beta-ing any genre of D.Gray-man fiction, serious or light-hearted. Although, I, admittedly, tend to lean toward the darker spectrum of the stories posted here when I decide to read for leisure. I would prefer, however, to beta one-shot fiction, rather than stories with multiple chapters. This is because I am a college student with limited amounts of free time. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Every story deserves its chance in the spotlight (or on the laptop monitor, as the case may be). Who am I to deny that? |
