Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a fan of plot and keeping things realistic emotionally and relationship wise. Even within a fantasy setting, the emotions and problems between people should be realistic and not all sunshine and rainbows. I am a power reader, as I like to enjoy sitting down and reading as much as a story as I can in a single sitting. Unsurprisingly, I read fast and people who wish me to beta read should except that I can't see into their minds and that I will make mistakes. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am great on helping dialogs, making things darker relationship or emotional wise with characters, and helping things become more abstract for a reader. While some readers may be okay with being baby-stepped through a story, I like to see readers treated with a semblance of intelligence with allowance of letting them make their own conclusions. If people are having problems with propelling a character forward, too, I'm good with helping people fix character reflections or catching a person if they're missing something that allows a reader to connect to a reader. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am terrible with grammar and proper sentence structure, but I can catch most of the basic errors. Thankfully, I am slowly getting better.
Also, depending a series, I can be picky about names and translations. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like darker stories, dramas, suspense, and the occasional slapstick funny ones. I love any Valkyrie Profile story with a good use of Hrist or a Final Fantasy FFVII tale with a strong Aerith in it. Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Fluffy ultra happy love stories or something with a Mary Sue... I also detest unrealistic couples, such as Yuffie and Vincent. |
