I don't really have a beta-reading style. I do beta work for several people, and there's a different level of involvement for all of them. I can do anything from just checking the grammar to practically co-writing. Whatever the author needs, really.

I have a Master's Degree in English, and I'll be starting my doctorate within the next year. I'm also an English tutor on top of that. Far more importantly, I'm one of the least judgmental people out there--whether or not a story is any good, I'd still enjoy being the beta simply because I enjoy the work.

I will admit that I'm somewhat anal when it comes to grammar, but while I'll feel duty bound to mark any mistakes I find, I won't even remotely care if any of my suggestions are actually used. I ignore my own betas all the time, so I don't mind when karma kicks in and my corrections are ignored in turn. I just do this for the fun of it, anyway.

I don't have any preferences at all.

I will not beta stories that contain gratuitous sex or...well, actually, that's it. I don't do porn, but anything else is fine. (Stories with an "M" rating are fine as long as they actually have a plot and aren't purely about sex.)
