Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've never been a beta-reader before, which probably isn't the best way to start this profile, but I guess everyone starts somewhere. I am confident in my abilities to be a good beta-reader, as I have always gotten outstanding grades in my English classes. I enjoy editing other people's papers, alot. :D I'm not going to sugar-coat my critique, but that doesn't mean I don't like what I'm reading, and I'm always sure to give positive feedback where I see something good.
And I like to chat and be friendly. :) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I look at grammar, sentence structure and phrasing, continuity of the story line, general points about the plot, how OC (or not) the characters are, pretty much everything. I like giving reactions, as well. :)
I am generally very dedicated, so I will be sure to make the time for beta-ing your story. I'm not afraid to point out things that need to be corrected, and I like really ripping up stories to make them better. This could be a weakness if you don't like that sort of thing. :P |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not an English major. I make mistakes, too. And I don't always know every intricacy of grammar and punctuation. For instance, semi-colons confuse me. :P Also, I do tend to tear into stuff pretty hard, so if you want it sugar-coated, I might not be the best choice. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Well, I'm pretty limited by what I've read and/or watched. I'm pretty into Death Note and Kingdom Hearts, I've read all of the Harry Potter books and seen the movies, I've read Artemis Fowl...not sure what else to list here, but if you want me to know to characters you're writing about, shoot me a message first to see if I've read it.
As far as type goes, I'm pretty open. :) |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anything too extremely 'M' rated. Not necessarily because it makes me uncomfortable, but because I don't think I could edit that kind of thing well. |
