Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have never been a beta before, but I have recently decided to go into a career in publishing/editing. I felt like becoming a beta on here because it would be a great way to get experience in editing another writer's work. I am known as the punctuation police for my strictness for correct punctuation. I also view correct grammar as a must. br /br /br /

I am not exactly sure how most betas edit their writers' work, but I will have my writer email me their work. Then I will print it out, and write on those sheets. Then I will scan them back into my computer and email the edited pieces back to the author. If there is something that the author needs to change in that plan, I am willing to try other things.br /br /br /

I am also known for my great taste in imagery and descriptions of any kind, varying from the colors of the morning sky to the way a touch on a shoulder feels. I personally LOVE writing imagery, and am definitely willing to help in that field whenever possible.br /br /

I would also like some advice from other betas or even other writers who know about good betas. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Two of my strengths most definitely are correct grammar and punctuation. At my school, I am constantly editing and proofreading my friends' work. I am always first to spot all of their mistakes grammatically. In my essays, I always get full points for grammar and conventions. br /br /br /

I am also great at imagery and descriptions. I feel that I have a vocabulary, and thesaurus.com is my best friend. ;)br /br /

Another strength of mine is my love for drama in stories. I am able to think of great ways to add drama to certain scenes, and can tell when such drama is needed. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My worst weakness in beta-ing is that I'm completely new to this. Although this is not my first time editing for other writers, this is my first time doing it for someone other than a friend or classmate. I also do not know how most people beta and what their styles are for editing.br /br /br /

Also, I am young. I am only 16, but I feel like the best way to get ready for your future is to practice for it. I feel that this is my chance to practice, and if a writer is willing to take a chance with me, then I will be delighted to learn more! |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I enjoy reading and writing stories in the romantic, fantasy, and dramatic genres. I prefer stories with K or T ratings. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I do not enjoy parodies or adventure stories. I do not wish to beta for any smut stories or lemons. I would not beta for an M story, unless it was tastefully done. |
