As a beta-reader, I shall do my best to help improve stories as much as possible. Chances are, if the story is about my favorite series, I honestly won't care what the genre is, but everything else, I'd require a specific genre. When I beta-read, I usually look for the usuals: if it has correct spelling, if it has correct punctuation, if the characters are in character(unless they aren't meant to be, like in some alternate universes), if the story actually makes sense, and if there is space when a new person is speaking.

I'm pretty good at correcting spelling mistakes, but everyone should use some sort of spellchecker before they publish their story or add a new chapter. I also have a good grasp on whether characters are in character or not, so if they aren't in character, I'll be sure to alert the author.

Grammer errors. They are common, and I can deal with some of them, but I can't help very much if the story is riddled with them. I could fix it up a little, but chances are, there would be a couple of spots that I would have never seen.

I would prefer to beta humor and horror type stories, and also romance and drama. Alternate Universes are awesome. I don't mind gender-swap fics, or even yaoi/slash. I'll read practically anything, except for that listed below.

The only type of story I'd rather not read is poetry. Anything else is completely fine, but I'm not a big fan of poems.
