Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'd like to be told before I read if you have any specific questions for me to answer, or if you just want my general impression of a fic. Usually when I am betareading, I'll make note of how I feel once I've finished the piece, any parts that really stood out to me and caught my attention, and questions I have, whether they're about the general plot, character, motivation, or maybe just an ambiguous sentence.
I expect authors to have made their best attempt to pick out basic spelling and grammar errors before requesting a beta reader, but it's understandable if a few mistakes slip through. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My grammar and spelling is strong and I think I do well at suggesting plot ideas or being a sounding board for the plot ideas an author might have.
I love dialogue and want to make sure characters "sound" the same as they do in canon. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not the best with details and will usually go with "less is better".
Don't ask me for help with subtle humor. My ideas are usually complete crack. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like mystery, angst, and gen fic. Though I'm really open to most kinds of fic anyways, I think.
Oh-and I love, love, LOVE "what if" AUs. If you're playing with what would happen if you changed one part of the storyline and it's a canon I know, I'm probably interested! |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
If you're not trying to keep the characters IC (unless there's a good explanation, like in a "what if" story), please don't pick me. |
