Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm basically an all-rounder. I accept almost all styles of writing and all styles of spelling (ie. colour/color, etc) so that's down. I aim to improve people's writing, so that it's not only enjoyable for you, as an author, but also for a reader. I go with the flow of stories, so if you want something that particular way, that's cool with me. If you want ideas, I can do that too. So, basically, I'm here to help. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling, the usual. I research into topics, even if it is a fandom I love, because that's how I get into the story. I get dry humour, sarcasm, the whole satire area, but I do also get meaningful stories, and once you present to me what that meaning is or I figure it out, I work that little harder to getting other people to get it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Well, I can get a little lazy, especially if I receive the document late at night (mainly due to time zones). Also, if I'm not familiar with the fandom, you do need to make it blatantly obvious as to what is going on, if this is in the actual fandom or not, etc. Otherwise, I cannot help you at all. I am blank, confused and quite hesitant at helping you. I do get picky on spelling and such, especially if you're somewhere who spells like they sound the words (no offense) and I may spell words my way and not yours. I can adapt, but, I'll be picky. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I can manage almost anything. Although, horror is not my forte. I'm a big wuss when it comes to horror. Suspense, love it. Horror, hate it. I love crack fics, good crack fics though, I've had my share of crappy crack fics. But, anything is fine. Romance, humour, family, friendship, suspense, sci-fi. Whatever. Throw it at me with a description and I'm good. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anything involving rape, harm to women (unless they're ninja and they are also throwing punches), harm to children, anything EXPLICIT like that, and I'll report you. It's not a nice topic, taboo in most countries, and I cannot stand it. Mainly because, it is not fiction, but fact. |
